Dana Williams from Washington, DC, the musical journey began at
the Duke Ellington School of Music. While continuing to develop
her style at North Carolina Central University, the infusion of
old school hip-hop with Neo-Soul / Life Movement has been refined
to what we now know as simply,

on the Mama's Gun Tour 2001, Bag Lady Video, Jay Leno Show, David
Letterman Show, Live with Regis Show and

Live in LA (106 & Park). YahZarah takes the music scene by
storm with her debut album "Hear Me...", set to be released
in April 2001 on the KEO Music Recordings label. Look for YahZarah's

Some
artists are instantly catapulted into stardom before the release
of their debut album. While a select few of today's artists such
as Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, and Snoop Dogg became superstars
on the fly, others like Jill Scott, Dru Hill, and Jay-Z built
their careers the old-fashioned way: by consistently putting out
great music and through strong word of mouth. Apparently Bill
Withers didn't know that he'd be misquoting himself years later
when he sang "Ain't No Sunshine" because the success
of Sunshine Anderson's soulful hit single "Heard It All Before"
dictates that the South Carolina native is on target to become
this year's R&B breakout sensation. Preceding the release
of her debut album,Your Woman, the lead single "Heard It
All Before" developed a strong buzz that resembled the hype
that surrounded Mary J. Blige's and DMX's respective first singles,
"You Remind Me" and "Get At Me Dog." Apparently
Atlantic Records made the right decision by signing Anderson since
her album debuted in the number five spot on Billboard, beating
out several other high-profile releases that week. With Anderson's
immediate success, it looks as if Atlantic Records has found a
winning female R&B franchise in the singer that it can build
upon over the years in the same fashion that MCA used to catapult
Mary J. Blige into the superstardom stratosphere.
